Some of you maybe familiar with the apolar programs geological studies in the moon during the 1960', but you may not be aware of extensive research that preceded those studies. The work of two early researchers was very important then determining the nature surface of the moon. Back 1892, a geologist named Carlos Gilbert was challenging the prevailing views of about the moon surface. At that time, most scientists thought the craters of the moon had been created by the volcanic action. Gilbert named some careful telescopic studies, there were no spacecraft back then so telescopes with the best way to observe the moon. He concluded that the lunar craters was so uniform that they had to be the result of the impact falling bodies such as meteoroid, I posted the largement just some of the drawings on the board. If you compare them to those in your text, you can see that he is over amazingly accurate. Still it' contemporary rejected his work. 50 years later, the graduate student name Wolf Baldwin researched Gilbert' species. He too met with the resistance and he left academics to run his family machinery business, but he didn't give up his research. He worked alone at this period time, at eventually wrote an influential book called "the face of the moon.? A young geologist read it so inspired that he persuaded math to incorporate geology into the apolar missions. Well, the apolar missions eventually confirmed most Baldwin' idea, which is a star machine, considering that he wasn't a professional scientist.
